Bowl Court Social Centre evicted

As you may well have heard by now Bowl Court Social Centre was evicted early Thursday morning (7th August). Two police vans, plus a few police on foot worked alongside high court bailiffs to find only 4 sleeping bodies inside making it an easy operation after all. Apparently a senior policeman stated to one of the occupants ‘we’re not stupid, we knew you would be at Climate Camp’.

It was two months today since Hammerson Plc won their possession order and people had become a little too comfortable at Bowl Court. With no sign of County Court bailiffs the thought of the High Court seemed less threatening.

So what next? Well the London FreeSchool group are still organising the week long freeschool at the beginning of September but now the venue is uncertain. Also, see below for a benefit party happening at the rampART this weekend…

Anyone up for squatting another Hammerson owned property then?
Only joking Toby, we’ve got better things to do than be a thorn in your side ;)

– Cake and Drink social afterwards

Shell to Sea has been a very successful solidarity campaign supporting local communities resisting the building of a Shell pipeline. Folks from around Ireland and Europe have continued a campaign of direct action which has been building momentum.

Now is a crucial time in the campaign. The local community and supporting activists have sent an urgent call out for people to come out to Rossport during the next 3 weeks. The time is particularly important now because pipeline building at sea is about to begin.

If Shell is able to follow it’s timetable to bring the pipeling into land, this will create massive problems for any resistance to the project in the future. Shell will be creating ‘facts on the ground’ which will essentially make it easier to push through a decision on the land route, which the campaigners have been fighting against.

If you are interested in going to support the resistance or are even a little curious please come down! If you support the campaign but can’t make it to Ireland you can come to show support and donate to enable
others to go. Show up and have a good time!
