Dissident Radio
@___Dissident Island Discs
Welcome to Dissident Island, a small republic off the coast of London. Inhabited by a motley crew of dissidents who spend most of their time playing with puppies and producing a radio show of some sort. On the first and third Friday of every month we are visited by an assortment of lovely people who will teach, entertain and generally brighten up our lives. In the first part of the show we will be serving up a mix of radio plays, info on upcoming actions, legal advice and whatever else is going on. We will also be supplying you with Djs playing dubstep, reggae, breakcore, drum and bass and maybe even a bit of hip hop. We hope you will visit us soon (every two weeks). Check this site for dates and times as well as links to previous shows.

RADICAL THEORY READING GROUP
Started by academics opposed to the commodification of knowledge under the present system of University administration, the group has spent time at the Institute of Autonomy, The Square and, after a brief residency at The Vortex, has finally come to rest at RampART. Loosely stated, the aims of the group are:
● To provoke discussion and debate in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
● To examine some of the founding ideas of radical activism and anarchist politics and discuss their relevance to contemporary issues.
● To develop a vocabulary for articulating our desires.
● To unleash our imaginations and explore ideas for creative resistance.
● To give everyone a chance to be inspired by the mad visionairies who believe in the power of words to provoke social change.
● To take radical theory out of the university and bring it into a space where knowledge can be free.
Readings are chosen on an ad hoc basis so everyone has the chance to propose a topic for discussion. We believe that knowledge should not be esoteric or only available to those who can afford to pay for it. We also believe that the production of new knowledge is part of the development of strategies for social action which can only take place in interaction between like minded individuals. You don’t have to have read any theory before and you don’t have to apply for membership. Just turn up and join in. We meet monthly on the last Friday of the month and readings are announced in the RampART newsletter.

Free Yoga
Hatha yoga consists of asanas/postures, conscious breathing and
relaxation. The benefits from practice include increased flexibility, strength,
energy flow, balance of the hormonal system and the mind. It is especially
beneficial during periods of stress and anxiety because of its re-energising
and calming effects. The class is for beginners but is also suitable for more
advanced practitioners as the intensity of practice depends on the
individual.
